Married? Check. Happy? Completely. Ideal weight? So begins the journey...
We remember our pre-wedding selves like a distant memory. Constant workouts, the ability to avoid The Flying Cupcake, and a gown that zipped. Now that we've tied the knot, the pressure's off. But we're still eating like we're on our honeymoon. Let's take the journey back to health together...and enjoy some indulgences along the way.

I'm Too Fat For My Winter Coat
Yeah, it doesn't really button. Or, I guess it could, but it's stuffing me in there like a rolled sausage in a very unattractive way. Tommy Boy much?

I Accidentally Ate an Eggnog Pancake
I was eating so well on Saturday...and then breakfast came around. Scott and I hadn't been out for breakfast in awhile and we were out of bananas, an Ungar breakfast staple, so we decided to treat ourselves with a breakfast out. We went to Bub's Cafe, home of the Bub's Holes (donuts). I decided to get the Eggnog Pancake, which was a ginormous buttermilk pancake made with eggnog and served with warm butter rum sauce. Um, holy cow. It was incredibly tasty and should have been my only sweet for the day, and yet somehow that evening we found ourselves at Orange Leaf that evening getting self-serve frozen yogurt. (I highly recommend the English Toffee with Butterfinger pieces as a topping.)
My goal for the week is to burn off the calorie equivalent of that dang pancake, tasty as it was. Thought I enjoyed it that Saturday morning, I'm not interested in carrying it around on my left thigh for the next few years. We're just not that tight.

Fasting: A Weigh (ha!) to Get a Jump-Start?
Okay, so during church this week, our pastor challenged the congregation to fast on Tuesday this week. Fluids only--no calories. The main focus of the fast (i.e., what you pray/think about when you would normally eat) could be whatever you wanted it to be, but the idea was to strengthen our focus and faith as a congregation. Pretty cool idea, so Brian and I did it! So, with Thanksgiving being this week, I focused on truly being grateful and not taking things for granted, and I also focused on my spiritual and physical health. Not eating was tough, but it was also enlightening. I wasn't THAT hungry the majority of the day (flavored hot tea helped a LOT), so if I can go that long without eating anything, then I am eating entirely too much on regular days! Starving yourself is of course not a good plan, but an occasional day-long fast is something that I might try to start doing. It mainly helped me to remember that I should primarily eat for nourishment first and pleasure second instead of the other way around, you know? (Not all the time, of course--this mentality should go out the window occasionally!)
Anyways, just thought I'd share. Also, I'm sure this isn't a realistic picture of what my weight will be in a few days when my body balances things out, but I was down 5 lbs this morning!
Will Work Out for Wine
I love the barter system, especially when it comes to alcohol. Thanks to the nifty spreadsheet, I can see that I'm getting close to my daily calorie allotment. What's a wino to do? Work out, of course! What's that, you say? I don't have 160 calories left to enjoy 2 glasses of wine? Guess it's time to get my butt on the stationary bike for 20 minutes. I think it's a pretty good tradeoff--I donate my body to fitness for 20 minutes, and in exchange I get to leisurely enjoy some wine while watching Top Chef and Work of Art on the DVR.
And sometimes after I work out I'm so desperate for ice water that I no longer crave the wine.
Sometimes.

Welcome!
This is the first post on our new blog. This is a place where we can share triumphs and successes and, most importantly, post our weekly progress in the constant battle of woman versus food.
